What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Apparently, a question (to which I really wasn’t expecting an answer) has spawned a challenge. And fool that I am, I think I’m going to take up the challenge. I have about ten days to figure out what to write about because I have no concrete ideas. (I’ve been pretty much burned out and sleep deprived for most of this month.) I’m also somewhat apprehensive because I’ve never written an erotic adventure mystery before. Two of those genres are extremely difficult to do well, in my opinion anyway.
So far everything I’ve managed to come up with sounds horribly cliche, twee, and/or idiotic. What sounds brilliant one minute, sounds terrible ten minutes later. I’m currently brainstorming though, so hopefully I’ll eventually hit upon something.
Don't Shake the Flask 
To some of us, all three of those genres would be difficult. (To me, with no discernible gift for fiction, it’s exponentially worse: I’m thinking nine times the difficulty of any one of them.)
I think you need to establish the tone first. Once the tone is set, you have something to measure everything else against.
