I haven’t forgotten about doing the 50,000 words in a month thing again this month. It’s just that I haven’t really had anything planned so I’m writing by the seat of my pants, again. I don’t have a title for this project yet and very little idea about how the plot will go except that there will be many mysterious happenings that the main characters will have to figure out–hopefully not before I figure out how to write them. I’ll be posting my musings about my progress here, periodically and if I remember.
The initial idea was to write something of a fantasy bent that was a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Dangerous Liaisons. The main character/narrator (Wall) is a bored courtesan looking for a new patron and more importantly, new intrigue. Over what appears to be an unrelated murder, she meets up with one of the king’s mysterious agents (Harrow) who has a superiority complex and thinks he has no use for silly women. However, he’s forced to concede that he needs an accomplice with the narrator’s peculiar talents in order to complete his next mission which may have profound consequences if he fails.
So far, I’ve finished the first chapter. Someone’s died and the murderer, obvious to Harrow, is identified. He’s also smugly managed to divine Wall’s identity before she’s introduced herself, to her consternation. As to what will happen in the next chapter, I’m not quite sure. But I’ll have to introduce Harrow’s important mission soon if I want this to get rolling…
